Trips from Våhaug
600 m above Herand, you come to the end of a mountain road and a parking lot with the most amazing view. This place is Våhaug. From Våhaug, we can choose from many marked paths (and some unmarked) to experience the Hardanger mountains.
Easy: Grimenuten and/or Såta (2-3 hrs). We follow the marked path towards Vatnasetenuten, taking an unmarked path up to Grimenuten. We go back down and cross over a creek before venturing up towards Såta. We meet the marked path to Såta. Back using the marked path.
Medium: Tostøl – 10 km (4-5 hrs) (easy, but long walk)
The path is easy, with a few short inclines. Steppingstones have been laid out in the muddy parts. After about 1 hour, we reach the top of Saurdalen. We shortly arrive at the mountain cabins at Samdalsstølen with the lake Viddalsvatnet below. Tostøl is about half an hour further on.
Hard: Vatnasetenuten – 9 km round trip (4-5 hrs)
This is a round-trip, starting easy along the lakes. Steep up-climb to the top with spectacular views. Marked path.

Vatnasetenuten
A favourite hike starting from Våhaug is the 9 km round-trip to Vatnasete-nuten, which is around 1000 m above sea level. A long, medium hard hike, a marked path.

Meeting place:
We meet in Herand where we are picked up by a minibus that takes us to Våhaug. The drive is about 30 min. We can also arrange pickup in Jondal ferry terminal.
Level:
Easy - Medium - Hard.
Length and time:
3-6 hrs. Depending on chosen hike, experience and fitness level.
Suitable for:
People aged 10 and over who are in decent physical shape with experience from walking on paths (forest). The trip is unsuitable for pregnant women over three months, people with heart problems, and back or knee injuries.
